GP36 AI Drivers

Postby Erudhalion » Mon Mar 05, 2012 3:38 pm

I've just installed Speed Dreams 2, and when I try to set up a GP36 race, the list of possible AI opponents is empty.

I had a look in /usr/share/games/torcs/drivers and there appear to be some files (in /simplix and /usr ) relating to GP36 AIs.

Is this normal or has something gone wrong?

Sorry, I meant .../speed-dreams-2.

Anyway, I installed all the packages I could find:
speed-dreams
speed-dreams-base
speed-dreams-hq-cars-and-tracks
speed-dreams-more-hq-cars-and-tracks
speed-dreams-wip-cars-and-tracks

I shuold also have said that I can use the GP36 cars and they work fine.
I looked at the files in .../speed-dreams-2/drivers/simplix/simplix_GP36 and .../speed-dreams-2/drivers/usr/usr_GP36 and there are a series of numbered folders and 2 XML files in each which seem to specify some of the properties of the drivers. I have looked in other folders and can't see anything immediatly relating to the drivers, but I'm no expert.

Even so, in the game the supercars category has many AIs, LS-GT1 has 4, TRB1 has 5 and alla the others none.

Huh? You appear to be correct, well at least when using the 'natty RC1' packages.
--
simon@ubuntu:~$ dpkg --list | grep speed
iU speed-dreams-base 2.0.0~rc1-0ubuntu1~natty2 An Opensource Motorsport Sim
ii speed-dreams-base-data 2.0.0~rc1-0ubuntu1~natty2 An Opensource Motorsport Sim (data package)
ii speed-dreams-hq-cars-and-tracks 2.0.0~rc1-0ubuntu1 An Opensource Motorsport Sim (extra data package)
simon@ubuntu:~$ cp practice.xml .speed-dreams-2/config/raceman/practice.xml
simon@ubuntu:~$ /usr/games/speed-dreams-2 -s practice -x > ~/practice.txt 2>&1

'practice.txt' shows that 36GP robots are not being added to the list of available drivers.

I'll check the other packages later, but I believe that the SVN work OK. Might just be PPA build issue.

I've started a bug report here:
https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/speed ... ticket/639

Looks like the binary portion of the 36gp robots is not included in the base package.
Simon.
