Issues Playing Game - LLVM ERROR

Postby acky1 » Thu Dec 20, 2012 11:02 am

Hi there,

I have installed version 2.0.0-r4687 on an Ubuntu 12.10 virtual machine. Seemed to install correctly and runs fine until I attempt to Race. Everything seems to initialise correctly and 'Ready' is displayed and then the window closes and the process is killed.

Here are the last few lines from the terminal after starting a practice race:

00:00:32.363 Info Dynamic Sources: requested: 235, created: 235
00:00:32.363 Info Static sources : 21
00:00:32.363 Info Dynamic sources: 235
00:00:32.506 Trace Wrote /home/ubuntu/.speed-dreams-2/config/graph.xml (0xb03e210)
00:00:32.506 Trace Ready.
00:00:32.553 Info Sound restored
00:00:32.553 Info Starting race engine.
00:00:32.556 Info Practice now in NETWORK_WAIT state
00:00:32.556 Info Practice now in RACE state
00:00:32.556 Info Ready.
LLVM ERROR: Program used external function '' which could not be resolved!
AL lib: ReleaseALC: 1 device not closed

Any help in solving this problem would be great.

Edit: looks like it may be driver issues, possibly due to using a virtual machine. Have tried installing and updating OpenGL from mesa-common-dev and freeglut3-dev but the problem remains. Probably unrelated, but I am also getting some fopen fails: Failed to load "/home/ubuntu/.speed-dreams-2/drivers/human/cars/sc-lynx-220/default.xml" (fopen failed), Failed to load "/home/ubuntu/.speed-dreams-2/drivers/human/cars/sc-lynx-220/pinabashi.xml" (fopen failed)

I think that the failed fopens are OK, it is the system checking whether you have 'tuned' those particular cars for your own preferrences.

With SVN head running on 12.10 (i386) hosted with VMWare on Win7 (32bit) I can get the menus and can navigate to start a race, at which point it crashes

Don't have a suggestion what's wrong, but at least it's consistant. SD-2 did run (r4420, albeit VERY slowly) on Natty....

Which kernel are you running with?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Kernel Version: 3.5.0-17-generic
Should note I got the exact same error with TORCS.

I though I'd give both a shot with other distros and using Fedora 14 with kernel version 2.6.35.14-106.fc14.i686 I managed to get TORCS to run and play, albeit at about 2fps. Have yet to try Speed Dreams but I assume that since they had the same original problem, SD would run and play too.

I'm currently just doing a bit of research into open source driving games and was interested to see how easy it would be to compile and run Speed Dreams. Probs gonna use a dedicated linux machine rather than VirtualBox so hopefully won't experience these kinds of issues and the frames per second won't be so shoddy either.

Cheers

I switched my VM over to VirtualBox and it appears to work OK (albeit slow FPS).
