cant get gamepad to run properly

Hi, I discoverd speed dreams shortly and like it very much. I drived by keyoard and mouse for some days but today I got an HAMA BlackForce Game pad and wanted to give it a chance in my living-room. I set it up but it behaves somehow strange. The analog sticks do nothing till they are moved half way but then they suddenly respond the half or so of steering left for example. From there they respond fairly analog. And there is another thing: When turning the car pulls the throttle and gets slower until i stop turning, then it starts accellerating again. For the joystick it sounds like the default dead zone is way too much. Firstly I would confirm that the behaviour is the same on the command line (or other game) - you can use 'jstest' for this which is in the 'joystick' package.

If the deadzone is the fault it really should be fixed in the kernel, but it can be adjusted using the following tools:

Another thought.... did you run through the calibration process (menu: configure_player-configure[4 pointy star icon]-Calibrate)?

Thanks for reply. Yes of course I calibrated several times with serveral different settings within the game. I will try your other suggests.
