Thanks again Simon. I got there in the end with 3.8-rc4 and 310.19-0ubuntu3. Looking forward to some play (and testing) time at last.

Glad you got it going. I got the dials of this controller working - but ran into a bug in the kernel which will need to be fixed before they work 100%.

Next is to get the LEDs working I suppose. I've not got SimRacing game installed (only thing that drives the LEDs?) and it would be handy to snoop the USB bus to see how the PC sets/clears LEDs.

Are you up for a little more investigation?.... Once you've had a while to enjoy SD that is. ;)

I could just through some bytes at it (from Python) and see if any make LEDs come on. The device is pretty simple, so most likely it wouldn't be as complicated as reverse engineering the Logitech wheels was.

But it would be really helpful to have some kind of clue, as to where to get started. Normally what we'd want to do is use a USB logger and log data whilst playing the game for a little bit.

is a free tool I've used in the past.
is a professional tool with a 30day trial period.

Hint. Set the wheel to 180'c sensitivity and then hold it up-side-down to reduce the amount of data coming from it (ie. no steering data) and then rev the engine (confirming that the LEDs come on). Post up the log somewhere.

Simon.

PS Here's a thread on how the 'magic' happened on the G27. This info was enough to get it working up Linux.... although SD doesn't yet do anything with LEDs

It returned without error when I changed the number. Should it do anything else? Haven't tried using it in SD-2.0 yet. Don't tell me. All the LEDs and knobs work in the game now yeah?

New kernels are a lot easier now that I don't get the apport errors on the nvidia kernel module. I get full resolution right after reboot now, so happy to carry on testing, but that's about it isn't it?

ETA: Wait! "brightness"??!
