Crash when I try to play a track.

Postby max » Sat Sep 10, 2016 7:29 pm

Hi guys.

I started playing this game not so long ago and I really enjoy it so far. But now I ran into a problem. When I try to install a track and race on it the game crashes. So when I click the track in the game and then press start, the game crashes.
So can someone help me, because i'd like to play more circuits than the one that is pre installed.
I'm running version 2.2.1 on windows 10 and I can install cars fine.

Windows 10 as mentioned in the post. :)
It crashes with every track that I install. I tried Nurnburgring and a couple of others.

Windows 10 as mentioned in the post.

Sorry, I don't know how I missed that.

I don't have Win 10, but all the tracks work for me (on Win 7).

Have you tried Uninstalling and re-installing?

Also, you can run Speed Dreams from the command line and have it create a log file. This may show something.
Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\speed-dreams-2.2.1
Run Speed Dreams via command:

Code: Select all
    bin\speed-dreams-2.exe -tl 5 -ts sdlog.txt

(-tl 5 sets the trace level) (-ts sets the log file)
The log file will end up in your "<My Documents>\speed-dreams-2.settings" directory.

NOTE: the paths may need to be adjusted for Win 10.

From the log (line 357):
Code: Select all
00:00:13.042 Default  Trace   Track base : 2 categories, 3 tracks
00:00:13.042 Default  Trace     'circuit' category :
00:00:13.042 Default  Trace       espie            : tracks/circuit/espie/espie.xml
00:00:13.042 Default  Trace       dijon            : tracks/circuit/dijon/dijon.xml
00:00:13.042 Default  Trace     'user tracks' category :
00:00:13.042 Default  Trace       HiSpeed          : tracks/user tracks/HiSpeed/HiSpeed.xml

dijon and HiSpeed are not standard tracks. When installing extra tracks, they need to go in specific folders OR the track's xml file must be edited to reflect the actual folder.

To fix:
1. Create a folder under tracks/ named road
2. Move the entire dijon folder from tracks/circuit/ to tracks/road/
- OR -
1. Open tracks/circuit/dijon/dijon.xml with a text editor (notepad will work)
2. Search for category
3. Change val="road" TO val="circuit" <must match the folder name>

I don't have the HiSpeed track so I don't know what category the author specified for that track. Open the xml file and search for category. Again either move the HiSpeed folder into the correct tracks/xxx/ folder - OR - edit the xml file TO val="user tracks"

HiSpeed should be speedway.
