Hi everyone,

I am still working on the Mpa setup, I can only advance slowly as my SD physics is limited but I managed to adapt and almost finish the categroy file. I just have a few questions:

1) What is GC height ? I can't figure out or find what is is.
2) What is "clift" does it mean lift coefiicient ?

Code: Select all
      <!-- Total of Clift front and rear = 1.2! -->
      <attnum name="front Clift" min="0.1" max="0.3" val="0.191"/>
      <attnum name="rear Clift" min="0.4" max="0.6" val="0.559"/>

and why doesn't it make 1.2 then ?

3) what is the tickover in the engine section ?

On the other hand I managed to figure out wheel sizes and positions, resize my model to fit the real car's dimension... I also computed the cx values for the 2 kits by using my model's dimensions and fixing speeds and power so I think I'll manage to get 2 very different behaviours for the 2 kits. Now I am working on the engine, I'd like your feedback on the torque and power curves:

MPa-11 engine.jpg

I tried to put the most power at 10k rpm and have it diminish rapidly as ultra optimised naturally aspirated race engines tend to have much power at a small rpm zone and usually at the top rpms but rapidly loose power.

Any comments welcome ;)

Have a good night.

J.J.

GC height

My understanding is that this is the height at which the center of gravity is located above the ground.

Hi JJ and everyone,

having studied some car xml files myself, I hope I can answer some of your questions

Small correction; I think it's COG height from bottom of chassis, i.e. excluding ride height.

Maybe it's just some old unupdated value? Or maybe front Clift and rear Clift need to be multiplied by planform area. Does that make any sense?

Engine RPM at idle.

It's definitely a value that has an effect; you can basically interpret this as a "base" downforce value before introducing additional coefficients of negative lift (or downforce). I forget how one calculates the peak lift coefficient (haven't touched a SD car in forever, and Wolf-Dieter knows way more than me here), but I think what the comment states is that the car will, at maximum speed, generate that coefficient of lift before wings. If that's false, it may also be the c-lift coefficient at a set speed including maximum wing angle. His comment doesn't reveal a lot though.

About the stock1-tem car model

Postby super7 » Thu Sep 24, 2015 8:12 am

Having created my own paint schemes (completely from scratch) for this stock1-tem car, I've noticed the window net won't appear in the new paint schemes. The texture isn't at fault. There seems to be a flaw in the car 3D model, which is fortunately pretty easy to fix. The object WI_side (including the side windows and the window net) should be switched to two-sided, and then one normal of the window net surface should be flipped, so it would point outside, thus making it visible. One more thing about the .ac file is the weird 50.08 shi value, which caused a crash when I converted the edited .ac model to .acc. Changing it to 50 solves that.

Obviously, this message shouldn't be misinterpreted as criticism. Your work is greatly appreciated.

That's a great looking model W-E-C. Nice detail work on the engine and gearbox.
Not sure if it was an intentional design decision, but I noticed that your V12 block has 8 exhaust pipes.
