I wanted to know if there was a fictitious car name for Lotus already in use for SD. Perhaps this thread could serve as a list for all the fictitious names for various cars in SD. Unfortunately I’m not well schooled on European cars and I have a good deal of trouble identifying the various cars used in SD.

We don't have vehicle licenses, and because using real vehicle and circuit names is a copyright violation.
(Also so I can sneak in some really cheeky anime references, but that's completely missing the point)

Why not ask for the car-manyfacturers for rights... starting with the volkwagen group... It is advertisement for them. Look at rigs of rods, they have the real names... Mabe this will not work and I do not have any idea how it works in this busness by why not give it a shot

Because it costs money, a lot of money (hundreds upon thousands of euros), to license vehicles. Not everyone sees it as free advertising. Think of Porsche or Ferrari, who suck the ****s of Microsoft and EA Games to keep other development teams and publishers from touching their precious brand without paying out the *** in ridiculous licensing fees.
Some development teams are willing to take the risk of copyright infringement when they used real names, look at early versions of TORCS (1.2.3 or 1.2.4) as an example.
Do you honestly think an open-source hobby project just has magically, some millions of euros to throw around?
And personally, I'm here to RACE. I don't give a **** if the rear-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe is a Porsche or a "Boxer" or an "Einzbern", if it's there for me to drive I will race it.

I wonder what the law is on anagrams. Although I don't think I'd really want to drive a Chorpse. I'm more of a Fararer chap myself. Slotu's are cool...
I agree about the driving.
