Real world to 3D model using Kinect

Looks like this is getting better/more practical:
I had a little play with this and it's not too shabby, I think a little more care is required to get a really good scan - I read somewhere that a painting object mat white can help a lot (white wash is easy to apply/remove).
Next question is whether it's actually practical to work with real life scans, or whether they are just too complex/noisy to reduce into a nice simple mesh for the game. Don't know whether it is practical to attempt to scan a whole car...
I can upload the whole scan/sessions (around 120MByte each) if anyone wants to play with them.
