Wheel Physics issues

Hi, I am helping a school in the Greenpower electric car challenge. We are trying to build a basic car simulator using Speed Dreams as a basis.
The cars we will be simulating are quite different to the normal speed dreams fair, so I expect us to have some problems. The cars are electric etc etc.
Anyway the pupils and I have started with a car design based on one of the standard models. We have managed to get our own 3D car design in (needs painting/detailing etc) and have started to look a the car's main xml file to get the physics about right. Generally we have got things basically working but we are having problems with the wheels. The wheels on our car are light and thin. When we try and lower the mass of the wheels in the xml files as soon as we go below about 10Kg the car starts flying !
Is there any information on the wheel parameters and what we should be doing ?
Any ideas ?

Sounds very interesting.
Since the the devs with deeper knowledge of the physics code of SD are seldomly browsing this forum i would suggest to post your questions on the SD developers mailing list http://sourceforge.net/p/speed-dreams/mailman/.

I got them to work fine with simuv4 with lots of trial an error, but I noticed something. The AI doesn't use simuv4! Only the player (me). THat's weird. I returned it back to simuv2.1 and my car was slow on corners again. ....................
