Downloaded and played this with the kids yesterday, fun enough but not really 'realistic' (see you-tube video of cars flying with 'boosters').... they do have some interesting features though:
* inbuilt track editor - allows folks to generate their own tracks pretty easily
* OGRE engine based
* record/play back capability.
Overall it was quite good entertainment, and we all like to see OpenSource games suceed, right?

Do you know Trigger Rally?
http://trigger-rally.sourceforge.net/http://triggerrally.com/Is another open Source Rally game.
It is not complete as Stunt Rally but is quite entrateining.
You can even play a new techdemo of it directly on your browser(you need a webgl enabled one: latest Firefox and Chome as an eample).
No need to install anything

I know of (and strongly support) the GPL constraint, and am happy to work with it.
However, our skillset in C++ is strongly limited (and obviously we don't know jack about Speed Dreams), hence I would love to support the existing devs with this - If any want to do this kind of freelance work.
