I think there is not enough people that currently are aware of this little gem... Just a place to discuss how to advertise speed Dreams!

Ahh the traditional problem that exists in all (most) opensource project.....

Last release I spent some time doing some tutorial videos and the preview shots. I'd really like to do something a little more 'professional' for the next release, which will hopefully be relatively soon. If we can get a 'preview trailer' to put up with fancy screen shoots and clips that would be fantastic.

We also need to decide our distribution channels. We currently have SourceForge, Ubuntu PPA, Fedora Repo and (something on) Desura.

Mabe a inkscape artist can make a banner that we can make clickable in sigs on other forums and I would like to see how much the game has been downloaded. I can also talk with media guys like slashdot and the linux journal and omg Ubuntu...

Let me know what you think...

If you send me a couple of shots and the logo svg I can see if I can do a banner

Edit:
Just got a brainwave. How about we make space for adds somewhere and then with that money we can advertise... lol

Despite the poor Desura support (ie. no Linux version of SD2.0) we're getting around 10 installs per day and have a total of around 1450 Windows installs of SD2.0 since release. We need to find a Desura Guru to ensure the next release is properly supported.

Sourceforge has 611 downloads of the Windows installer (SD2.0) and 138 downloads of the source package (Linux users?).

Don't think that the PPA does download counting. We were also on a cover CD for a german PC Mag, and there's also other ways to get the game.

So overall it looks like around 2000 people have tried the game....

If someone wants to make a promo, I thought this might be a good sound track to use:

Moog (the owner) has given approval to use, and if you're into cars/modding checkout 'Might Car Mods' for a good laugh (the Civic was a piss take btw, as was 'TRD Laser').
