Scarlet Devil Raceworks - Hangar 9

Image

As the junior squad to Scarlet Devil Raceworks (SDR) Hangar 13, SDR Hangar 9 was founded in 2006 as a result of numerous contract requests from a number of drivers who were looking to race under the distinguished Scarlet Devil banner, but were not good enough to compete in the premiere racing championships of the world. Since Hangar 9 is essentially a junior squad, the team mainly competes in the penultimate steps on the road to the world championships.

Despite the team being based mainly in England, just like Scarlet Devil Hangar 13, the team prides itself on being an international cause, discriminating only by racing skill and no other reasons. The team may be a junior squad, but it is a junior squad to one of the world's most supreme teams; because of this, Hangar 9 upholds very immense standards for each and every single one of it's team members, be it a mechanic or a driver. The team's nearly infinite funding have allowed Hangar 9 to compete in nearly every discipline in the racing world, but their presence is best felt in the rallying, open-wheel, and endurance racing championships. Their wins are as numerous as their number of drivers, with a staggering 36 victories in a number of highly competitive seasons in their debut year, culminating in four championship victories: Englishwoman and team manager Fiona Scarlet winning the Miss GT World Championship, ex-motocross racer Mark Sanders in the Intercontinental Rally Masters, daughter of racing legend Gabriela Ceara in the Global Touring Car Masters, and finally, stunt driver Chuck Davis Jr in the Masters of American Stock Car league.

Scarlet Devil Raceworks Hangar 9 pride themselves on having the best drivers, with the best team, with the best equipment. Like their bigger sister team, Hangar 9 settle for nothing but the absolute best, and with this lack of compromise brings many great victories, but also many great failures. Fiona Scarlet, while racing in the World Rally League, for instance, is infamous for her extremely poor luck: while she has won many stages of a rally, she has had many more mechanical failures that have taken her out of contention. The high standards set by the team mean that many of the team's lesser experienced drivers will also train themselves to hell and back, resulting in exhaustion and poor competitiveness on the day of the race. It seems then, that perhaps the team is too perfect.

As of this season, the 22-year-old Fiona Scarlet has announced that she will be taking management duties for Scarlet Devil Raceworks Hangar-9 after her father Jules Scarlet had to leave temporarily due to medical complications. Whether or not this will have any impact on the team's morale is yet to be seen, but if last year was anything to go by - the Scarlet Devil will continue its reign of terror.

Vulture Heart Racing

Image

Ever since their debut in 1998, the American team Vulture Heart Racing have become one of the greatest factory-supported racing teams in the modern day. Based in Braselton, Georgia, Vulture Heart Racing have dominated the GT classes of the American Endurance Series with each incarnation of the Vulture sports car.

Starting with the V5-R, Vulture Heart started off with a stellar start to the racing season, being runner-up and third in the GTS class, fifth and sixth overall at the 12 Hours of Sebring. Beaten only by the more experienced Free French Racers team in their class, which had fielded their equally state of the art American racer, the Taipan LTS-R, Vulture Heart Racing and the Free French Racers would continually battle for class honors for five straight years. Vulture Heart Racing came out on top eventually, winning three of five seasons in the GTS class of the American Endurance Series, as well as taking four class victories in the legendary La Sarthe 24 Hours race. This laundry list of victory created by the V5-R was just the beginning for Vulture Heart Racing; their wish list had more endurance races to win.

The team is primarily composed of American staff, furthering the team's pride in being an all-American team: with all American drivers, all American staff, and... well, okay, the tire supplier isn't American. Their veteran drivers, Billy Bob Brown, Joel Newton, and Billy Martinson, are former stock car drivers who turned to road racing to broaden their horizons. Despite their lack of familiarity with road course racing, they quickly got the hang of it and have proven to be a formidable force in the sports car racing scene. With the addition of Vulture Racing raised driver Jeffery Doughty, there is no doubt this team will continue to dominate GT racing in America.

However, Jeffery Doughty isn't exactly someone that can be called level-headed... with him behind the wheel, only time will tell if Jeffery's raging temper on and off the track results in more wins for the team, or a number of very expensive write-offs.

Adenauer Racing Sports

Image

Founded in 1997 by Christoph Lange, Adenauer Racing Sports is considered by a number of high-profile racing teams to be a stepping stone into the professional racing teams. The team was founded as a result of the founder's son, Peter, being unable to secure a contract for a team in the European Formula 3 Open.

Many of this team's drivers and their former colleagues hail from the Braunschweig region of Germany. As of a result, the team has a large number of loyal fans from that region. Their home circuit, Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, has tons of green and orange banners waving about in the stands during the German F1600 races. Despite having a large number of hometown sponsors, however, the team has not competed in any international racing events besides the British Formula 1600 Festival, where Formula 1600 teams from all over Europe compete for top honors in club-level racing. The team has scored numerous podiums in this prestigious race, with the best result a closely fought second place in 2006 by Max Schuster. Adenauer have also captured the team's title once and the driver's championship twice in the German Formula 1600 League, proving the team's success against larger and more well-funded teams such as Équipe Brandt, Erhard Motorsports, and Racing Team Kohl.

Lange also runs a go-kart racing team under the Adenauer Racing Sports banner. The team is no stranger to the local karting scene here, as with many of the drivers on their F1600 team, many of the team's kart racers often move up to higher racing classes with varying, but mostly great successes. Other teams may be able to outshine Adenauer in this discipline, but the teams that can out-do the team are mainly big-name world class groups such as Scarlet Devil Raceworks anyway. It's entirely possible that Adenauer could dominate the German karting scene if those world-class teams didn't race with them, but the team still scores a number of key wins here and there.

While the team could move up from club-level racing and into higher-level racing series, such as the European Formula 3 Open, or the German Touring Car Masters, the staff at Adenauer seem completely content with staying as a lower level team. Their reputation has been built around being the stepping stone for some of the world's best drivers, the first of which being Christoph Lange's son, Peter. He has since left Adenauer Racing Sports for the Japanese GT team Nice Boat Motorsports, where he has enjoyed a number of podium finishes, three on the very top. The team has since then churned out a number of well-known drivers traveling the European racing circuit, but none quite as well as Peter Lange.

Still, many younger Germans yearn for a high-quality team to jump into the German Formula 1600 League. Adenauer Racing Sports is their only option, and the team won't let any geek off the street drive their rides. Adenauer do require drivers to take a test drive with them before allowing drivers to sign a full season's contract, so it's not like they hire total rookies.

In any case, this club-level team is ready to kick some serious arse, both in their homeland and abroad.

American Endurance Series is trully a special event and this has featured different concept vehicles out there that would definitely grab one's attention. On the other hand, it's the foreplay of the vehicles crashing the roads and reaching the finish. There are also hot hybrids that would be seen and its a great thing...
