Where is everyone? This place is dead.

Is Speed Dreams still in active development?

Well the Speed Dreams comunity is not big (small but dedicated)
but the development team is still at work for the next release (v.2.2 planned for around the end of 2015)!

The problem is that SD's community is tiny and the guides few and far between. Active development is still going on, but since this is a just for funsies project, things happen at a gentle, gradual pace.

Ah, ok. Thanks. Just curious. :)

Can't wait for the new version.

I wish I could help in the development but I don't know C/C++ nor do I know XML or whatever other languages you use in Speed Dreams.

More detailed/accesible guides would be a good start.

Hi everyone

You don't need to be a coder to help, the team is also looking for artists, so if you have photoshop/gimp or 3d modelling skills and good ideas, you can still help quite a lot.

It is certainly a bit rough and poor in terms of documentation/guides, I personally am not certain to do things right. I hope things will change and I am seriously thinking about writing a complete car creation doc, but for the moment I have to learn things myself and as the graphics are currently beeing completely remade using OSG I have to wait a bit for things to be settled.

If you are looking for a car creation tutorial, here is a good start:

Also don't be afraid to ask for help or infos around here, it may not be the busiest place on earth but people usually answer kindly and are willing to help.

Have a nice evening.

When do you think Speed Dreams will be released with OSG? I'm assuming it'll be a while.

Hi Snake,

For the moment it is not mentionned in the 2.2 roadmap (http://sourceforge.net/p/speed-dreams/wiki/ReleaseRoadmap/). It is a pretty difficult thing to say, for the moment OSG is working but Xavier told me it needs quite a lot of polishing and for the moment it is still unclear what file formats are going to be used for 3d models and tracks or for the textures. I guess if the work gets on at quite good pace it may come out with 2.2, but it won't feature all eye candy by then this will come later on. But that is only an assumption of mine. For me it's more important to get a rock solid basic implementation to build on rather than having things rushed.

Have a nice day.

The 2.2 release is (teorically) planned for the end of the year... but I think OSG will not be in as the official graphic module.
