Oval tracks and road courses (2014)

Postby super7 » Tue Oct 16, 2012 9:27 pm

2014 EDIT. All tracks (currently over 30) are now available at http://stcreativedesigns.fhero.net/ . They've been tested in Speed Dreams, and all of them loaded without problems at least in an unmodified, minimal 2.0 version I have. Of course, there's no warranty whatsoever.

If there are any relevant questions or issues not mentioned in track readme files, or you'd like to help, please check the Contact page on the site and follow its instructions instead of posting everything in this thread, which I might not visit. Thank you.

That michigan in torcs isn't anywhere close to the real MIS (length, banking and pits completely different). Maybe that's been deliberate to avoid any legal hassles. Mi-speedway has the right length (2 miles) and banking, hopefully also correct dimensions in turns and on the front stretch (the turn radius and the front stretch radius are a little difficult to verify, and I've had to experiment there). At least to me, it has the feel of Michigan (as I've played it in other games). Besides, the lap times and speeds on mi-speedway are near actual lap times.

Of course, if anybody has absolutely correct track data of MIS, that would definitely be helpful in creating a more realistic track. I couldn't find all necessary information, and couldn't sneak onto the track and gather the data myself.

2014 EDIT. No longer relevant. Tracks have been tested in Speed Dreams, as explained in post #1.

2014 EDIT. No longer relevant, all current tracks with "Local info" sections, though values rather random.
